Cleaning the air in your vehicle

Clean air in your vehicle.png

Written by Ashton Deroy:

Air quality in your vehicle has been linked to cancer, driver distraction and pulmonary issues. This blog has three pieces of advice to manage the air quality in your vehicle to ensure your driver safety. This blog is really about managing the environment in your car which will also ensure a healthy driver. This can also help to ensure vehicle function long term?

  1. Use a cheap foam brush to dust between the A.C. vents – This ensures you do not have vents breathing out dust in to your vehicle.
  2. Vacuum up the dust as you brush it off – Do not just leave it sitting in the car. Make sure you clean it up and get it out of your car.
  3. Clean all the knobs and buttons – This will help keep the function of the car up.
  4. Clean out all of the trans from the car, especially bottles – Leaving bottles in the car long term because the bottles release cancer causing toxins and are very bad for your physical health.
  5. Use a magic eraser to clean off the vinyl and leather – Well because ewww.
  6. get rid of animal hair from your upholstery with a spray bottle and scrub.

4 important automotive tips for February.

Dignity Repairs Blog Promo

Ashton Deroy writes, Hey Toronto Readers,

This is Ashton Deroy back on the Dignity Repairs blog for February. Here are my four Winter Maintenance tips for February. I want to try and do a lot more blogging on this space this year.

Wiper Blades – You need your vision on these icy roads. Being blind by slush is bad for you and the other drivers around you. If your wiper blades are not effective we can switch them out for you and ensure your vision is not compromised on the road. Again driving in Toronto is dangerous enough without compromising your vision.

Fix your brakes – Yes there is a lot of salt on the roads now in Toronto. However if you are on a low maintained road when you least expect it your brakes can stop working. Avoid this issue at all costs. Ask about getting your brakes checked at Dignity Service garage.

Check your battery – Being stranded in the winter time in this cold weather is a nightmare. Make sure you go to our automotive garage and have your battery checked. To make sure you are not stranded with somewhere to be in the winter time. This can save you trouble on a cold night.

Alignment – Uneven tire wear can leave your car with a bad alignment. Have your tires checked to ensure a smooth drive.

My Aunt teaches me to change a tire

This situation came up for me Saturday 27th of May. My aunt got into her parking lot and realized her car tire was flat. Why was this tire flat? She drove over a nail somehow.

How to change a tire?

  1. Find a safe flat location, thankfully we were in my aunt’s garage
  2. Turn on your hazard lights
  3. Apply parking brake
  4. Apply wheel wedges
  5. Remove wheel hub cap and wheel covers.
  6. Loosen the lug nuts, Lefty loosey!
  7. Place jack under the vehicle, in our case, it was a Toyota
  8. Unscrew lug nuts
  9. remove the flat tire
  10. Mount on the spare tire with lug nut bolts
  11. Tighten the lug nuts
  12. Lower the vehicle and tighten again
  13. Lower the vehicle completely
  14. Replace hubcap
  15. Store all of your equipment
  16. Check pressure in your tire
  17. Take flat tire to Dignity auto repairs!

Summer time automotive maintenance tips

Summer time automotive maintenance tips.png

Hey Toronto, it is Ashton Deroy again writing for the Dignity Repairs blog. If you haven’t already, you need to be asking yourself. What should I look at in my transportation as we begin to turn from winter to spring and summer.

Well here is some things you might be over looking:

  1. Tire pressure changes – A warn down or misaligned tire can be extremely dangerous. To check your tire pressure use what is referred to as a penny trick on your tires. Heavily worn tread can cause dangerous driving condition. If you can see any part of the picture of the penny. You should replace your tires.
  2. Change your oil – Every 7,500 miles your oil needs to be changed. Usually this time comes around the time of the change in seasons.
  3. Check fluid levels – If the car happens to be your summer car and it has been in storage all winter. You should check transmission, power steering and differential.
